Tip from Tammy

Good information here from Tammy S., one of my readers -

It's VERY important to try & eat breakfast. That makes a BIG difference in your caloric intake for the day. People who eat breakfast tend not to overeat as much later in the day. Definitely work on getting more calories (at least 1/2 your daily calories) before 1 pm. It helps avoid being too hungry at night and overeating.

It's hard to change old habits, so just take baby steps and keep working on it. With the lap band surgery I'm sure you'll have to eat smaller, more frequent meals, so this is a good thing to start working on.

Keep up the good work :)
Tammy

Your friend Tammy is correct. You are doing great! Before I leave for radiation at 6:10 am, I have one egg and a piece of bread or tortilla. Yes, I am hungry by ten, but that's ok. I have made a real effort to buy and eat lots of fruit, and drink lots of water.(I love my oolong tea, which is a no-no, but I still drink it!) All these things together, for some reason make me want less at dinner time. Don't know why.

Glad you like my tip :).

I was thinking about it some more and I think that I probably do not do quite that well in general --- I definitely DO eat at least 1/3 of my total calories by 1 pm, including a breakfast of at least 200 calories before 9 am. But shooting for 1/2 is not a bad idea - just harder.

For the moment, think baby steps, and 1/3 of calories by 1 pm would be a great start :).
